September 19, 1840

THE ALBANY MICROSCOPE, New York, Sept. 19, 1840  In the masthead it says: "Devoted to popular Tales, History, Legends & Adventures, Anecdotes, Poetry, Satire, Humour, Sporting, and the Drama." Most of the first 2 columns is devoted to details of money owed by a list of names, with details, and includes a very unusual engraving of a man hanging on a scaffold by his backside (see). Page 3 also is headed with an unusual engraving. Such are quite uncommon in period newspapers.
Four pages, archivally rejoined at the spine, nice engraving of the Albany skyline in the masthead, various minor tears at margins.
