THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, October, 1767 There is a very curious full page plate which accompanies the article: "An Account of the Asiatic Animal Called Syah Ghush..." (see images).A very nice article on: "Lord Ca--d-n's Speech on the Declaratory Bill of the Sovereignty of Great Britain over the Colonies" which includes: "...more & more convinced me tha the B___ P___ have no right to Tax the A____a. I shall not, therefore, consider the declaratory bill now lying on your table...the very existence of which is illegal, absolutely illegal..." with more (note some words not spelled out so as not to incriminate the writer; a common practice then). This article takes over two pages (see for the beginning).
An article on: "An Antient Coin" includes prints of both sides. Also in this issue is: "French Account of the Patagonians" "The Question in Optics Solved".
There is a full page plate which accompanies an article on a "Curious Monument" (see images).
Both plates called for are present & noted above.
Complete in 46 pages, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 inches, nice, clean condition.
A very nice pre-Revolutionary War magazine from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content.This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
