The bkpg. has: "Mormons - Latter Day Saints" which includes: "...sailed on Tuesday week with 19 cabin passengers and 200 in steerage. The whole of the steerage passengers belong to a sect called 'Later Day Saints' and bound for Quincy in the state of Michigan, on the borders of the Mississippi, where a settlement has been provided for them by one of their sect..." with more. Although it mentions Michigan, I believe this to be Quincy, Illinois, which is along the Mississippi River (see text) and which has a history of Mormon immigration.
Also on the bkpg: "The Amistad" stating in part: "In Pursuance of a decree of the circuit court, this famous vessel, together with her cargo, was, on Thursday last, sold by auction...at the custom house in this city..." More about the appraisal from when the ship first landed which was $6600, that it later was valued at $600 and sold for only $245 due to her condition. This famous slave ship and the revolt of its occupants was not only a notable legal case at the time, but in 1997 was made into feature length movie by Stephen Spielberg.
