NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, July 16, 1842 Page 3 has reports from "Rhode Island" which includes some items which are follow-ups to the Dorr Rebellion. An inside page has: "Amistad Africans" gives an update on where they are now with specific mention of Cinque (see photos). This is followed by: "The Santa Fe Expedition" being a: "List of those who were killed or died upon the road..." with mention of how they died, giving evidence as to how difficult life was on the Western frontier (see photos).
Other items of interest include: "The Croton Aqueduct" & "Employment of Women & Children in Coal Mines".
Sixteen pages, 8 1/2 by 12 inches, very nice condition.
This newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
