August 27, 1913

THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL, Memphis, Tennessee, Aug. 27, 1913  The bkpg. begins with column heads: "FRANK HEARS DEATH SENTENCE CALMLY" "Execution of Atlanta Man Is Set for Oct. 10" "New Trial Is Asked" & a bit more. This was the very controversial case of Leo Frank, an American factory superintendent who was convicted of the murder of a 13-year-old employee, Mary Phagan, in Atlanta. His trial and lynching two years later attracted national attention and became the focus of antisemitism concerns. Today, the consensus of researchers on the subject holds that Frank was wrongly convicted.
Also at the top of the bkpg. is a photo of: "Cole Younger" headed: "World-Famous Ex-Bandit Converted" with a caption noting: "Cole Younger, the ex-bandit, became a member of the Christian Church at a revival meeting at Lees Summit, Mo. Younger is an ex-member of the notorious James gang."
Fourteen pages, even toning, good condition, a bit fragile so should be handled carefully, nice condition.
