The sport's section (page 25) has a six column headline: "DiMaggio Ties Record as Yanks Take Two Before 52,832" with subheads that include: "YANKEE STAR HITS 44TH GAME IN ROW" and more with two related photos. (see) Of course game # 56 is the one everyone remembers as this was the amazing number he ended up finishing with. But here is when he actually tied the MLB record that was held at the time by Wee Willie Keeler. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication, especially on this topic. Rare as such.
