The ftpg. has a report noting: "Intelligence is received that the investment of New York by General Washington will be one of the first operations of the ensuing campaign...great preparations being making for sending a fleet to America early in the year...".
Page 7 has an item from the House of Lords notes: "...that he had been that day informed that Sir Guy Carleton had been appointed to the office of Commander in Chief in America...if it were true, one of the best officers had been appointed to one of the worst services that had ever existed in this or any other state." And the bkpg. notes: "A plan of accommodation with America...is now under deliberation of the new Secretary, to which it is believed the Colonies will agree. Lord Cornwallis is to carry it to America to be presented to General Washington...".
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 inches, ink stain at the bottom of the ftpg. margin, good condition.
