THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Oct. 5, 1776

Page 2 has an item headed "America" but not related to the Revolutionary War. Page 2 has a very brief item: "Capt. Paulet, who lost his leg at Bunker's Hill, has been presented by his Majesty with an independent company of invalids."
Another page has a few war-related tidbits including some news about Quebec.
An interesting item notes: "...being at a public feast...gave as a toast, Hancock and Adams. One of the company, in the commission of the peace, threatened to commit him: 'You be d---'d (said the other)...".
The back page has an: "Extract of a Letter from Staten Island" which begins: "We landed upon this island five or six days ago, where we found General Howe with the army waiting the arrival of his reinforcements...General Clinton, with 3000 men, arrived the 2d instant in good health...About 5000 Hessians, guards & Highlanders arrived yesterday & other ships are appearing in sight every hour...the moment the last of this fleet is arrived its expected we shall attack New York and Long Island..." with more.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 in., nice condition.
