PORTRAIT MONTHLY, New York, June, 1864  This was an off-shoot of the New York Illustrated News. Each month the Portrait Monthly featured woodcut engravings of the leading generals and politicians of the war, North and South, along with capsule biographies, news, stories, poetry, and serialized fiction, all pertaining to the war. The magazine only existed for 18 issues.
The ftpg. has a portrait of the Confederate "Governor Andrew G. Curtin" of Penna., with his biography. Among the many portraits within are Gen. G.F. Shepley, Miss Clara Louise Kellogg, Gen. George Morgan, Gen. Cuvier Grover, General Fitzjohn Porter, Gen. John Brannan, and others.
Sixteen pages, 9 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches, the back two leaves are irregular at the spine with a bit of loss but not to text, otherwise mostly good..
