DAILY TIMES, Chicago, Sept. 1, 1939

* World War II begins -- initial start
* Adolph Hitler defies the World

A terrific issue for display on the beginning World War II in Europe with huge & bold 6 3/4 inch letters announcing: "WAR" and beneath it: " 'AID!' POLES DEMAND!" The limited text on the ftpg. begins: "The Polish ambassador to London today notified Foreign Sec. Halifax that Poland invoked the British-Polish mutual assistance treaty on the grounds of German aggression...". A banner headline on pg. 3: "Poland Invaded, Her Cities Bombed; Asks Britain's Help" plus more on this notable event.
Tabloid size so it measures 12 by 16 1/2 inches so a nice size to display. The guts are lacking as it contains pgs. 1-14, 47-60. A small archival report on pg. 2 with 3 words partially lost at the bottom of the ftpg., otherwise good condition.
