* Re. repealing the Stamp Act, in a UK magazine
Although formatted much like the more common "Gentleman's Magazine" this is a much more scarce title.
A nice report is headed: "A Letter form the Principal Merchants in London Trading to the Colonies...when the Act For Repealing the Stamp Act Received the Royal Assent", a letter that is addressed: "To John Hancock, Esq., and the Rest of the Merchants in Boston" dated at London, March 18, 1766, the very day the repeal was formally announced. This letter takes a full page, & is followed by: "Petition of a Sufferer in the American Riots, for Redress, with the Resolution Thereupon". This is a great letter about a tax stamp vendor who was constantly threatened, abused, mistreated, etc. because of his position, he noting: "...most shamefully & scandalously insulted & abused & from the repeated threats daily uttered against him has been kept in constant fear of his life & property..." (see).
Near the back is news headed: "British North America" with latest news from or concerning Charleston, Virginia, New York, Quebec & elsewhere (see).
Complete in 56 pages, 5 by 8 inches, disbound with title & "Contents" on the front page, great condition.
