THE CALEDONIAN MERCURY, Edinburgh, Scotland, May 29, 1738  An early issue of this famous title with various news reports from Europe. Page 2 includes: "...they learn from Constantinople, that all the Hungarian & Transylvanian slaves are set at liberty in order to serve Prince Ragotski at life-guards..." Also mention: "From Boston, that  Capt. Weir of that place load with sugars was lately taken by the Spaniards and is still detained at the Havannah." Then a list of the war fleet for the West Indies (see).
Four pages, never-trimmed margins, 8 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, great condition.
