THE SCOTS MAGAZINE, Edinburgh, Scotland, December, 1774 Although formatted much like the more common "Gentleman's Magazine" this is a much more scarce title.
"A Plan for Reconciling Britain and Her Colonies" asks 7 questions pertaining to this (see) with some thoughts.
There are 13 1/2 pages taken up with some terrific content headed: "American Papers and Proceedings" near the beginning of which is a great report from New Hampshire noting: "All  the commissioners, new counsellors, Tories, and their dependents are now in Boston; the country is pure & free from these contagious pests of human society. The soldiers are rebuilding the fortification, mount cannon., etc. to defend themselves & the Tories from the resentment of their injured countrymen; but they need not be frightened...The spirit of this people never was so high before...and if a civil war should ensue, it would be a very bloody one indeed. The real language of our hearts is, We will die or be free."
The report continues with more terrific content, too much to note here and only portions of which are seen in the photos. Much on the quartering of troops in Boston, reports of the actions of General Gage, talk of the Committee of Correspondence, illegal meetings being held in the colonies, John Hancock is chosen president of the provincial congress at Concord, plus a report of the meeting of the first Continental Congress at Phila.
As for the latter, printed here is the complete text of the historic Continental Association, in which the delegates agree to implement a non-importation policy, to discontinue the slave trade, and to embargo all exports to England. The violators are to be punished by boycott & publicity.
Truly a terrific issue!
Complete in 56 pages, disbound, title page has the "Contents" as well, 5 by 8 inches, great condition.
