Over two-thirds of the ftpg is taken up with a review of: "Essays on the History of Mankind in Rude & Cultivated Ages...", which quite succinctly details the situation between America & England in a few paragraphs. A few points include: "The discovery of America has opened an immense field to the ambition of the state of Europe...But between countries so widely separated, a political union subsists with difficulty...But when colonies are regard in the light of subordinate provinces...& not entitled to the same privileges & immunities with the parent state, the lovers of civil liberty will acquiesce...jealousies ripen into disaffection. Political independency figures in the imagination...The Rubicon was already passed & the Colonies had dared to commit their cause to the events of war..." & much more (see).
Pg. 2 has a letter from Phila. (see) and pg. 5 has a full column of "American News" regarding late events in the war (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 inches, nice condition.
