THE BALANCE & COLUMBIAN REPOSITORY, Hudson, New York, Sept. 11, 1804 The entire ftpg. is a piece critical of of Thomas Jefferson, one sentence noting: "...Shall we say that Mr. Jefferson is so cold, unfeelingly & spiritless, that he can look on with total unconcern & see our flag insulted, our laws violated, our commercial rights trampled on, our seamen impress, & our property captured without lifting a finger...".
Inside has an: "Extract From the Rev. E. Nott's Sermon on the Death of General Hamilton", and then an item: "Washington of Hamilton" which is a letter from George Washington to John Adams dated 1798 in which he extols the virtues of Hamilton, ending with: "...He is enterprising--quick in his perceptions--and his judgement intuitively great: qualities essential to a great military character and therefore I repeat that his loss will be irreparable."
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, good condition.
