THE BALANCE & COLUMBIAN REPOSITORY, Hudson New York, Aug. 14, 1804 The entire front page is an: "Editorial - Gen. Hamilton" which has near the beginning: "...a discussion which has taken place in the New York papers, with respect to the late melancholy catastrophe, by which the world has been deprived of one of its brightest ornaments..." which then reflects upon the verdict of the court on Aaron Burr. Included also is a footnote on the trial, reading in part: "This verdict is...' That Aaron Burr, Esq., Vice-President of the United States, was GUILTY of the MURDER of ALEXANDER HAMILTON...The jury sat every evening, from the day of Gen. Hamilton's death until the 3rd inst. when the verdict was agreed on... (see).
Much more concerning the trial & the reasoning of the jury, carrying over to take most of page 2 as well.
Page 3 has an item headed: "HORRID!" which notes: "A Democrat...who deems himself of no small importance to the party, declared...that Burr's having killed Gen. Hamilton, 'was the BEST ACT HE EVER DID!' The monster's name is...withheld, but the fact can be proved." (see)
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, some margins a bit irregular, good condition.
