July 30, 1931

THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 30, 1931

* Gangster Al Capone tax evasion case
* Changes plea to Judge H. Wilkerson (day of)

Page 12 has a one column heading: "CAPONE MORALIZES ON EVE OF SENTENCE" with subheads. (see) Al Capone would change his mind on this day and plead not guilty after learning he may get a hefty jail sentence on the tax evasion charge. This case would eventually lead to his demise. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 40 pages, light toning, a little spine wear, generally nice.
