Page 2 has a nice printing of the: "General Orders" in which Jackson announces to the military that the war has ended, including: "The Commanding General, with the most lively emotions of joy & of gratitude to heaven, announces to the troops under his command that a treaty of peace, between the United States and Great Britain was ratified & exchanged...". This is followed by a very lengthy letter signed: Andrew Jackson, concerning events immediately after the Battle of New Orleans, & in which he says: "...An honorable peace has dissolved our military connection; and, in a few days I shall quite a country endeared to me...Among the most prominent of these...are those I shall ever entertain of the distinguished bravery, the exact discipline, the ardent zeal & the important services of your corps...".
Four pages, nice condition.
