LEICESTER MERCURY, Containing Historical and Political OBSERVATIONS On The Affairs of EUROPE; With Remarks on TRADE, England, Oct. 30, 1718 Simply a terrific little newspaper and extremely rare as not only is it the first we've seen in 41 years but it is not even listed in Crane & Kaye (Census Of Newspapers 1620-1820) not does a search on the internet turn up any information. A great full title page which notes this is issue "no. XII", and which look more like one from a book which includes an engraving.
Includes a list of "Goods Exported" and the "Bills of Mortality" with a full page of "The Prices of Several Particular Goods" followed by 9 pages of news report.
Complete in 12 pages, wide never-trimmed margins, 6 3/4 by 8 3/4 inches, great condition. An issue for the best of collections.
