HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, December 31, 1870 The front page features a great full page: "A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!" which shows an older version of Santa Claus.
Within the issue are half page illustrations: "Selling Fish at Auction in Paris" and "The Entente Cordiale - The Prussian Bugbear in the park of Versailles". Full page illustrations: "A Friend in Need" and "A Reverie". The article "The Paris Food Markets" includes two large illustrations.
Included is the "Christmas Supplement" with the full front page being a great Thomas Nast print with various imagines, one of which shows a "Santa Claus" as a jack-in-the-box (see).
The issue is complete in 16 pages, plus the Supplement, never bound nor trimmed with various wear at the margins, some very light dirtiness to the ftpg. margins, generally good condition.
