December 23, 1826

COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Dec. 23, 1826.

* The tombstone/monument of Josiah and Abiah Franklin
* Benjamin Franklin's parents gravesite

Page two has an interesting letter to the editor which makes a rather eloquent public plea for the city of Boston to take responsibility for raising/reclaiming the tombstone of Josiah and Abiah Franklin - a marker which was put up by Ben Franklin in memory of his parents. Included is the quip describing the sad state of affairs: "...the tomb-stone... which is now nearly as buried as they." Much is said regarding Franklin's intimate relationship with the city. See images for additional details.

Other news of the day with several interesting advertisements.

Complete in 4 pages, very lite dampstaining on the front page, but in good condition.
