February 27, 1930

THE NEW YORK TIMES, February 27, 1930

* Prohibition - 18th Eighteenth Amendment
* Wets vs. Drys in Washington D.C.
* Beginning of the end ?

The front page has a two column headline: "DRY LAW REPEAL URGED ATTERBURY AND OTHERS BEFORE HOUSE COMMITTEE" with subheads. (see) Was this the beginning of the fight to repeal prohibition ? Lengthy text continues on page 4. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 48 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
