THE WAR, New York, Dec. 28, 1813

* Battle of Lake Erie - Ohio
* War of 1812 naval fight
* Creeks Nation - Indians

The entire front page is taken up with a very lengthy & detailed report headed: "British Official Account of the Naval Battle on Lake Erie, and the Capture of Proctor's Army", signed in type: E. Baynes, Adj. Gen, followed by the list of killed, wounded & missing.
Notable reports inside include: "Third Victory Over the Creeks" "Fourth Victory Over the Creeks" which is very detailed; "Bounty o Maritime Prisoners of War" which includes a letter signed: John Rodgers; "Frigate Congress's Cruise" "Frontier News" "The Embargo" which is a report to Congress signed in type: James Madison.
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 in., never-trimmed margins,  nice condition.

This is a fascinating, short-lived newspaper, having begun in 1812 with the exclusive purpose of reporting on the War of 1812 (hence the title). When the war ended, so did this newspaper.
