THE WAR, New York, Oct. 3, 1812

* Siege of Detroit - surrender
* Battle of Fort Detroit
* William Hull

The front page is almost  entirely taken up with two letters which related to the further details of General Wm. Hull's surrender of the post at Detroit to the British General Brock. Each of the 3 letters are signed in type: Wm. Hull.
Other content includes: "Indian Depredations" "Skirmishing on the Lines" "Marine Memoranda" "Admiral Warren's Squadron", plus the back page has 4 letters each signed in type: D. Porter, and another letter signed: T. L. P. Laugharne.
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 in., never-trimmed margins, very nice, clean condition.

This is a fascinating, short-lived newspaper, having begun in 1812 with the exclusive purpose of reporting on the War of 1812 (hence the title). When the war ended, so did this newspaper.
