PENNSYLVANIA JOURNAL & THE WEEKLY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, July 9, 1783  Page 2 is mostly taken up with a very lengthy letter concerning the situation in America at the time. It begins: "It now remains to be proved whether the people of America are an honest people or not..." and a few other bits include: "...The independence of America has been very cheaply obtained, & besides this, she has received extraordinary helps without any expence to her...Congress, beset at all times with a thousand difficulties, have nevertheless gone through the war & concluded a peace...Congress have now laid before the states the amount of the monies borrowed & the debt contracted..." & much more concerning the integrity of America in repaying its debts.
Another item notes: "Dr. Franklin in a late letter to a friend in England, gives an opinion that Great Britain will still enjoy a great part of the American trade..." and also: "We hear from New York that the first division of the British army consisting mostly of the German troops, is expected to sail this week." Other items relating to the end of the Revolutionary War.
Four pages, very handsome & large engraving in the masthead makes this great for display. Great condition.
