The front page has: "Speech of Ex-President John Tyler" "Scathing Anti-Secession Speech by Mr. Johnson, of Tennessee" "Withdrawal of the Louisiana Delegation in the House" "Mr. Bouligny Refuses to Secede & Announces his Intention to Stand by the Union" "The Montgomery Convention" and more concerning state seceding.
Page 5 has: "Later From the Pacific - Arrival of the Overland Express..." with news from California, datelined "Fort Kearney" and beginning: "The Pony Express passed here at 2 a.m. with San Francisco advices...". Uncommon mention of news traveling by Pony Express, which lasted but 18 months.
Complete in 8 pages, nice condition.
