* Very rare mining camp title
An exceedingly rare newspaper as Gregory (Union List of American Newspapers) notes that only 2 issues are known to exist in any institution and those were recently purchased by us (actually there are 3). And this was the only newspaper to ever exist in Bellevue, located in Northern Colorado.
Bellevue [later shortened to Bellvue] was considered desirable by the Union Pacific Railroad because of the many stone quarries in the area. The influx of railroad workers to the quarries prompted the opening of a general store, saloon, & barber shop. The Bellvue Post Office opened in the building on June 24, 1884.
The ftpg. has a column headed: "Crystal Hill Camp - Mining Notes" carrying over to page 2. Various other small & interesting new tidbits from the area.
This is the volume 1 number 3 issue, measures 10 by 14 inches, very nice condition.
