Amelia Earhart's Chicago welcome...

Item # 618061

July 20, 1928

THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 20, 1928

* Aviatrix Amelia Earhart
* Post Atlantic Ocean flight
* Airplane "Friendship"
* Chicago, Illinois welcome

Page 9 has one column headings: "MISS EARHART WINS CHICAGO'S ACCLAIM" "Crowds Crush About Girl and Her Two Co-Pilots, Who Flew Over the Atlantic" "Visits Childhood Home" and more. 1st report coverage on Amelia Earhart being Chicago's guest of honor after her famous flight across the Atlantic Ocean.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 40 pages, a little irregular along spine, generally nice.

Note: While the major historic events in Amelia Earhart's life can be read about through multiple venues (books, newspapers, magazines, etc.), many of the more obscure events can only be found within a handful (at most) of daily newspapers of her day. Yet, it is these reports which add color to one of the most beloved personalities of the 20th century. Thankfully, the New York Times was one of the few publications which emphasized such reports.
