The first column has much concerning General Earl Cornwallis including: "...several...prisoners taken in arms against the British forces had pardons in their pockets signed by the commander in chief, exonerating them from any punishment for their past offenses on condition of their taking the oath of allegiance to their lawful sovereign, the king of Great Britain...they embraced the first opportunity to join General Gates who received them with open arms..." with more, including: "The great advantage obtained by Earl Cornwallis over the famous American General Gates & his numerous army is an additional proof that the British forces...are superior in conduct & courage to their enemies...".
Perhaps the best content is concerning Cornwallis' victory over General Gates at the Battle of Camden, South Carolina, which begins: "The late victory of Lord Cornwallis over the southern rebel army..." & further on: "...The action of the 16th of August in South Carolina is the only one in which either of the American armies have met the British troops & fought at all fairly during the whole war..." followed by results of the various actions in the battle (see). Further on is an item beginning: "We have given the rebels another flogging on the 18th..." (see).
Another page has: "America" with news from Rivington's New York Royal Gazette noting in part: "...Gen. Washington, the Marquis de la Fayette, Generals Green and Wayne...and a large body of rebels have been in the vicinity of Bergen for some days...". More war-related content as well.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, very nice condition.
