March 11, 1863

THE LYNCHBURG REPUBLICAN, Virginia, March 11, 1863

* Rare Confederate title

Certainly one of the less common Confederate newspapers. Minor war-related reports on the ftpg. include: "The Northwest And Reconstruction" "The Negro Regiment Bill" and "The Fourth Attack On Fort McCalister". Page 2 has commentary: "The Effects Of The War At The North" which begins; "While we are suffering the miseries springing from a deranged and redundant currency, it is sweet to know that the hateful Yankees, the author of all our woes, have not escaped similar evils...".
Page 3 has: "From Vicksburg" and a notice: "Negroes at Auction". The back page includes: "British Aid For The Rebels" "Fifty Vessels Now Building In England On Confederate Account" and one column heads: "Yankee Reports From Vicksburg" "Rosecranz Pushing Forward" "Secession Demonstration In New Orleans" "The Potomac Army Soon To Be Moved Forward".
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, various foxing & some browning near the margins.
