November 28, 1851

WESTERN EMPORIUM, Germantown, Ohio, Nov. 28, 1851

* Rare title
* w/ broadside statement

The front page has a nice print of: "Louis Kossuth" and an article on him. But the prime piece in this issue is the small broadside issued by the publisher, headed: "An Appeal To My Friends - Read And Act" in which he appeals to them to help find more subscribers so the newspaper does not fail. He mentions in part: "...My paper has not...met with that success which has made it even pay expenses...I cannot go on much longer without great loss...I have not been patronized as I should have been...Please to procure me at least one additional NAME to my subscription list..." with more. At the bottom the publisher has space beneath "Names" "Post Office" and "County" (see).
The issue has four pages, nice condition. The broadside measures just 4 by 8 inches and is in great condition.
