Almost the entire front page is taken up with Abraham Lincoln's state-of-the-union address, with ftpg. heads including: "THE MESSAGE" "Annual Report of the President on the State of the Nation" "New Plan of the President for the Emancipation of Slaves" "Abolition of Slavery A.D. 1900" "The Indian Troubles" and more (see). The lengthy text includes in part: "...Without slavery, the rebellion could have never existed; without slavery, it could not continue..." and near the end is: "Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history...The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down in honor or dishonor to the latest generation...We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last best hope of the earth..." and is signed by him in type: Abraham Lincoln.
Other Civil War reports on the inside pages. Eight pages, some light toning & a few printing creases to the bottom quadrant of the front page, generally good condition.
