THE AMERICAN, Manila, P.I. (Philippine Islands), January 17, 1899 A rare title published during the Philippine-American War, or the Philippine War for Independence. The front page has: "Debate in the Senate on the Philippines "Gunboats Ordered to the China Station" "Dreyfus Second Trial Concluded" and "Another free Fight at Johannesberg". The large masthead features a huge eagle over the harbor of Manila.
Eight pages, a fold at the centerfold area, uncut. Generally nice condition.
