THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE, Illinois, Oct. 13, 1871

* Great Chicago fire
* Best title to be had (rare)

Just a few days after the Great Chicago Fire which burned over 3 square miles of the city from Oct. 8-10, the Tribune put out this issue obviously under distressed conditions as the newsprint is much larger than the type set (see photos), causing the bottom and right margins to be unusually wide.
The front page has: "Proclamation", one each by the governors of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Ohio concerning the fire. Also: "The Missing - Persons Missing and Places Where They May be Found" "Insurance Matters - Arrival in Chicago of Eastern Underwriters--Estimates of Losses" "Public Meeting" & a wealth of ads.
Page 2 has more regarding the fire: "Business Revival" "Visionary Schemes" "What the Banks Will Do" "Prompt Kindness" and more. Also many ads, as most of pages 3 & 4 are taken up with ads.
Complete in 4 pages, never bound nor trimmed, measures  22 by 30 1/2 inches, minor irregularity at the margins, a few discrete archival mends near margins, generally in very nice, clean condition.
