Front page heads at the top of the first column: "OUR VICTORIES" "Official From General Grant" "He Will Pursue the Enemy As Long as there Appears to be any Use in It" "The Demoralization and Wild Flight of the Rebel Army" "The Country Filled With Stragglers" "Abandoned Artillery, Wagons, and Arms Along the Line of Retreat" & more.
Includes a dispatch from the Secretary of War stating, in part: "...The statement that official information had been received of Gen. Custer's being killed, is not true. He was unharmed late this afternoon." There is also a dispatch about the pursuit of the Confederate army by Grant, concluding: "I shall continue the pursuit as long as there is appears to be any use in it." The dispatch is signed in type: U. S. Grant.
Under "The Battle On Sunday" are two detailed reports about the fighting on the final days of the war. Includes a list of "The Casualties".
