THE NEWCASTLE CHRONICLE, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England, Sept. 28 1782

Page 2 has a great letter from General Carleton to George Washington, dated at "New York, Aug. 2, 1782" noting in part: "The pacific disposition of the parliament & people of England towards the Thirteen Provinces has already been communicated to you...We are acquainted...that negociations for a general peace have already commenced at Paris...And...that his Majesty...has commanded his Ministers to direct Mr. Grenville that the independency of the Thirteen Provinces should be proposed by him...that the Loyalists shall be restored to their possessions..." with more (see).  A great item noting the instructions the King has given to those negotiating the treaty of peace.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, folio size, full red tax stamp, handsome masthead, nice condition.
