DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, March 25, 1864 A very nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. The front page has: "A Yankee Father to His Rebel Son", and a letter from Gordonsville, Va., & another from Richmond. Also: "From the South and West--Yankee News" "Sham Battle" using snowballs; and an editorial beginning: "A very tragical farce is about to be played. The public supposes that an exchange of prisoners is going on..." with more.
The back page has a lengthy editorial, beginning in part: "A personal wonder to the many...is the cheerfulness of those who have lost everything by the flood of invasion...The leading optimists in the Confederacy are those who have had their mansions pillaged 7 then burnt; who have had their lands laid waste & their negroes carried off; who have lost all the elegant appliances of life, have seen...the treasured heirlooms of past general carried off by a Yankee general..." and much more. Among the articles on the bkpg. are: "The Negro Soldiers Captured in Florida' "The Yankees Organizing Negro Troops".
Complete as a single sheet issue, never bound nor trimmed, very nice condition.
