THE NEW WORLD--Extra, New York, July 24, 1841 This "Extra" edition is a broadsheet (single sheet, printed on both sides) promotion item, explained by a front page article: "On the reverse side of this sheet the reader will find a complete prospectus of the New World; and we ask of him as a particular favor...that he will display it so that it may be generally seen..." and attract subscribers. The back page looks much like a broadside, with promotional text surrounded by 12 engravings.
Measures 24 by 31 inches, several folds, generally nice condition.
