* General George Washington
* Lord Charles Cornwallis
* Revolutionary War

Half a column on page 2 is headed "America" being a: "Proclamation" from Halifax which has near the beginning: "The inhabitants of Machias...whilst a great part of America was suffering the inconveniences attendant on war, have thought proper...to invade & ravage the possessions of their innocent & peaceable neighhbours (faithful subjects of the King) in the province of Nova Scotia...Such repeated outrages could not pass unnoticed..." with much more. Over half of the remainder of page 2 is taken up with reports from the Revolutionary War, a few bits of which include: "...The troops...intending to proceed towards Philadelphia...taking General Washington's camp in their way which was placed on the high grounds near Wilmington with the Brandy-Wine Creek in their front & the Delaware on their left..." and: "...after a tedious & very troublesome navigation...the troops were all landed without any opposition. That Mr. Washington...had taken a very advantageous situation for protecting them...he was making the proper dispositions for attacking the enemy..." and much more. There is also a letter from Philadelphia dated Sept. 20 with some good war reporting, & including: "...On the 19th...commanded by Lord Cornwallis, attacking the rear of the rebels as they were retreating...obliged them to a general engagement which lasted the whole day...We have loss near 1500 men in these two engagements. Gen. Washington, with the small remains of his army, hath retired to the Jerseys..." with more.
War reporting carries over with more talk of General Washington, and also of: "...a dangerous insurrection among the negroes in the back settlements of Virginia..." and more (see).
Page 3 has additional war reporting including reference to the Battle of Brandywine (see).
Four pages, folio size, period notations in ads & margins, nice condition.
