EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Sept. 1, 1777
* Rare Revolutionary War title
Have of page 2 is taken up with various reports on the Revolutionary War, too much to list here (see photos) but a few bits include: "...dispatches from Sir William Howe, brings advice of Fort Edward being in possession of General Burgoyne but...brought no intelligence of the taking of Philadelphia..." and "...the late successful proceedings of General Burgoyne will be the most effectual means to crush the American power; as upon his junction with Sir William Howe, at least one half of that vast continent will be in the sold possession of the British troops & such of the inhabitants...who have been cruelly oppressed by the Tyrannical Congress..." and: "...it appears that several of the ringleaders of the rebels, finding not the least probability of succeeding in their views of independency, with now withdrawing themselves secretly into the back countries, there to remain till...the final conclusion of the rebellion." and much more (see).
The war content carries over some to page 3 as well (see).
Four pages, folio size, period notations in ads & margins, very nice condition.
