December 03, 1812

AURORA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, December 3, 1812  The front page has a header "Splendid Naval Victory!" which is a "Copy of a letter from Captain Jones, late of the U. States sloop of war the Wasp, to the Secretary of the Navy, dates New York, 24th, November, 1812..." pertaining to the Wasp capture of the British Frolic. Nice detailed report.
There is an article on the back page from New York City where Captain Jones would be presented an elegant sword and the freedom of the city for his gallant conduct in capturing the British sloop of war Frolic.
Other articles include "On the Staff of Armies - No. VI", "Perpetual Motion", "Union Canal Company" and more news as well as several advertisements.
This is a single-sheet issue with lite dampstaining to the top region of the issue and lite scattered foxing, otherwise in good condition.
