October 22, 1788

THE PENNSYLVANIA PACKET & DAILY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, Oct. 28, 1788  Page 2 has a very critical article on 3 boxing matches headed: "Boxing" noting in part: "...in the two first, after exhibiting a scene of butchery & bloodshed as disgraceful to the spectators & patrons as to themselves, escaped with their lives. But the other couple...terminated ...in a manner more fatal. One of them, after receiving a know-down blow, faintly exclaimed, 'I can fight no more'---and expired!" (see).
Four pages, never-trimmed margins, the front page has 16 illustrated ship ads, great condition.
