October 17, 1801

THE PORT FOLIO, Philadelphia, a lot of ten issues from vol. one dating from October 17 thru December 19, 1801  Edited by Joseph Dennie under the pseudonym "Oliver Oldschool" and Asbury Dickins, it espoused republican values and was the first important political & literary journal in the United States.
This lot has a wide variety of content but an emphasis on literary items. The ftpg. of four issues has one of the series of "Journal of a Tour Through Selesia" written by John Quincy Adams.
All issues are in very nice condition. Each has 8 pages & measures 10 1/2 by 12 3/4 inches. Still bound together but easily disbindable (I will do for you if wanted).
