December 09, 1941

EVENING PRESS, Island of Guernsey, Dec. 9, 1941

* Bombing of Pearl Harbor
* Rare Nazi occupation title

A very curious issue, as Guernsey, an English-speaking island, was occupied by the Germans during WWII so all the news was pro-Nazi. This issue is just two days after the Pearl Harbor attack and the front page has two related articles, both with an obvious pro-Nazi spin: "Surprise Japanese Raids" "Two U.S. Battleships Sunk" with other subheads, & text beginning: "Such damage was caused by the surprise Japanese raids that it is estimated that the U.S. naval strength has been decreased by 60 percent in the Pacific..." (see). Also on the ftpg: "Japan's Favourable Position" "Outweighs America's Numerical Sea Superiority" (see).
Four pages, very nice condition.
