COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Massachusetts, May 1, 1811 The frontpage of the issue carries an article "Great National Politics" which begins with some quotes, one being "Resistance to arbitrary and oppressive Laws is the first duty of Freemen" by Samuel Adams. The article is in response to a previous essay from "Leolin" in dealing with democracy. "Is the language of our 'Bill of Rights,' and of the 'Declaration of Independence' false? -- May rulers oppress with impunity, and are the People bound to submit without a murmur?". Other articles within the issue are of news of the day, and from Europe as well, and of advertisements which includes several illustrated shipping ads.
This is complete in four pages with scattered foxing, close trimmed at the bottom which causes some loss of text on page two, otherwise is in good condition.
