May 22, 1928

THE NEW YORK TIMES, May 22, 1928

* Early Al Capone report
* Chicago gangster wars strengthen
* Money being made illegally

This 56 page newspaper has one column headlines on page 10 that include: "CHICAGO VICE PROFIT PUT AT $13,500,000", "Crime Rings Have Netted That Annual Income During Last 20 Years, Report Charges", "Many Made Millionaires" and more (see photos). Reports mentioning Capone this early are very rare, about a year prior to the St. Valentine's Day massacre. Nice reporting near the beginning of the Chicago gangster wars.

Other news, sports, and advertisements of the day throughout. Light browning with minor margin wear, otherwise in good condition.
