Page 2 has a report from New York noting: "General Howe is returned hither from the army & General Clinton is sailed from hence with 6000 men, some say to Rhode Island. Our successes lately are very great...I should not wonder if the King's troops were put in possession of Philadelphia without striking a blow..." with more, and a report from another letter notes: "Our army moulders away amazingly; many die by the sword, many by sickness...others by the inclemency of the weather..." with more (see photos).
A later page has some great reports on the Revolutionary War (see photos) including: "...Fort Washington & the grounds around it fell with inconsiderable loss on our side...Lord Cornwallis is carrying all before him in the Jerseys, 2 forts of equal strength with Fort Washington have fallen into his hands...in sort it is impossible but that peace must soon be the consequence of our success...others with equal probability say it is to sail up the bay of Delaware & second Lord Cornwallis's attack on Philadelphia..." and much more (see photos).
