November 04, 1926

THE OMAHA MORNING BEE, Nebraska, November 4, 1926  This 16 page newspaper has a two column headline on page 10 (sport's): "Cobb Quit Detroit When He Saw He Could Not Win a Pennant for Six Years" with nice photo of Cobb. (see)
Also a banner headline on page 11: "Cobb Resigns as Manager of Detroit Tigers--Moriarty Named New Leader" with subheads. (see)
Other news of the day. Light browning with some margin wear, otherwise good.

wikipedia notes: Cobb finally called it quits from a 22-year career as a Tiger in November 1926. He announced his retirement and headed home to Augusta, Georgia.[6] Shortly thereafter, Tris Speaker also retired as player-manager of the Cleveland team. The retirement of two great players at the same time sparked some interest, and it turned out that the two were coerced into retirement because of allegations of game-fixing brought about by Dutch Leonard, a former pitcher of Cobb's.
