HARPER'S WEEKLY, from New York, July 13, 1878 Interesting full front page illustration of: "The New Flying Machine" shows a man piloting this combination balloon/propeller devise. Nice half page "Inaugurating the Glorious Fourth" shows boys playing with fireworks. A quarter-page illustration is of "Dr. W. F. Carver, the Celebrated Marksman". Nice full page "The Great Social Event at Blackville--The Wedding of the Twins" showing a wedding in a Black community. Full page Thomas Nast political cartoon entitled "Moral of the Russo-Turkish War" with insert of text by Aesop's Fables.
Nice full page "Regatta On Peoria Lake" includes 7 scenes. 3/4 page illustration "Attempted Assassination of the Emperor of Germany by Dr. Nobiling" which also includes a small inset of Dr. Nobiling. Other Thomas Nast political cartoons are within the issue.
The issue is complete in 16 pages, in good condition, and contains additional prints and related text. See photos for details.
