THE AMERICAN SOCIALIST, Oneida, New York, Oct. 26, 1876 "Summary Of News" on an inside page contains a report stating: "The first conversation known to have been conducted by word of mouth over a telegraph wire took place between Prof. A. Graham Bell, at Boston, and Thomas A. Watson at Cambridgeport, a distance of two miles....the notes taken of the conversation at the different points, proves the successful operation of Prof. Bell's invention." Otherwise this is primarily a newspaper by & about the Oneida Community.
